HOW TO CREATE A WEDDING INSPIRATION BOARD

One moment you’re engaged, and the next it’s your wedding day! How exactly do you figure out what will be your perfect wedding day experience? So many options to choose from — from themes, to dresses, to color schemes; It can be a bit overwhelming to say the least!… so how on earth will you get everything you’ve been dreaming up in your head conveyed at your wedding? An inspo board can help with that! Think of an inspo board as an over the top creative vision of your wedding. In detail, it’s “an arrangement of images, materials, and pieces of text intended to evoke a particular concept”.  It doesn’t have to be exact, but it can help you make those pain staking decisions. So express yourself with whatever your little bride-to-be heart fathoms!

Let’s start with a list of simple questions to ask yourself to get your head in the right direction:

–          What words describe how you want your day to feel? What colors or themes do you have in mind? What about your wedding day do you want to feel excited about or satisfied about?

–          What season is it taking place in? What does that season look and feel like? What will the weather be like?

–          Where is it taking place? What does it look like? Is it a venue? What’s the landscape like? What architecture is there? How does it make you feel? How does your wedding take your location into account?

Next is the fun part! Take as much time as you want with this. You can remove, add, and change it up as much as you please.  Find pictures online on Pinterest, in magazines, newspapers, and so forth that express all these feelings you want your wedding to bring about from the questions answered previously.  You will need a cork or pin board of any size or even a scrap book will work.

Here is a list of some items to look for:

  • Color Palettes and Patterns
  • Invitation Ideas and Typefaces
  • Fabrics and Textiles
  • Cakes and Desserts
  • Floral, Greenery, and Décor
  • Wedding Wear
  • Wedding Favors
  • Catering and Cocktails

Now, let’s take this up a notch!  Another way to go with this is with an Online Inspiration Board. The ease of doing all of this virtually is marvelous.  An virtual board makes it simple to upload pictures found on Pinterest or any Wedding site. You can easily take it wherever you want on your iPad, phone, computer, desktop etc. Plus! You can send it to potential vendors and coordinators expediently through email or text. For those of you who either might feel like you don’t have a crafty side, or prefer to do things online, here are 3 tools to take your board virtual:
